8:21 a.m. – A woman placing items into a bag at the CVS Pharmacy on North Pleasant Street fled. Police will try to identify the suspect and what she may have placed in the bag.
4:13 p.m. – Police took a report that a resident at The Arbors had $5,770 withdrawn from an account after someone forged the resident’s signature on a check.

3:08 p.m. – One woman involved in a minor two-car accident at the intersection of Northampton Road and South Prospect Street exited her vehicle and told the other driver she would sue after suffering what she said was a back injury and soreness, and had just been at the chiropractor.

9:29 a.m. – Cardboard was observed flying out from a trash truck on West Street. The driver stopped the vehicle and removed the cardboard from the road.

1:03 p.m. – Amherst Police assisted UMass Police in searching for a man fleeing on Lincoln Avenue with a computer stolen from the Isenberg School of Management, and being chased by a professor.

12:42 a.m. – Police found a man sleeping in a downtown ATM. He was awoken and sent on his way.
9:13 a.m. – A man loitering near the bathroom building at Community Field was not located. There was no evidence anyone tried to get into the bathrooms, which are closed during the winter.
11:37 a.m. – Police removed a person obstructing traffic at the intersection of University Drive and Northampton Road.

2:49 p.m. – A man walking on Puffer’s Pond ice was warned that the ice is not yet safe. He told officers that the ice is at least 5 inches thick.
9:49 p.m. – Police resolved a conflict between a tenant and a landlord at a downtown home over whether the tenant would be allowed to have a guest over while the landlord’s fiance was present.

11:09 a.m. – A live round of ammunition found in a donation box on University Drive was turned over to police for destruction.

9:48 p.m. – A Brandywine Apartments resident told police she was gone for eight days and returned to find $200 in cash and a bottle of alcohol stolen. Though she locked the home, the front door and slider were both open upon her return, and the lights were on.

8:34 a.m. – Police assisted a driver whose vehicle got stuck in a snowbank on South East Street.

12:40 p.m. – Protesters in downtown Amherst being aggressive toward passers-by were reported to police. Police found no evidence of their alleged behavior.

5:10 p.m. – A package of dog food delivered to a South East Street home was reported stolen from the front porch.

3:45 p.m. – The menorah on the Town Common was tipped over sometime after noon. It was not damaged and was set back onto its base.

11:18 a.m. – A loose dog knocking over trash cans on Grantwood Drive was identified and returned to its home.

5:04 a.m. – A Hartman Road resident called police after a man was observed loitering on the deck. He fled the neighborhood in a vehicle.
11:45 a.m. – A man sitting in a vehicle near a downtown ATM and acting suspiciously while watching people go in and out from it was not located. There were no skimming devices or other illegal equipment found at the ATM.
6:36 p.m. – A person delivering packages from a vehicle on Cherry Lane checked out OK. Police determined the driver was a UPS employee making deliveries in his personal car, a common activity during the holiday season.

11:31 p.m. – Police took a report about alleged discrimination against a military veteran at a downtown bar. Officers found no evidence of anything inappropriate happening.

11:31 a.m. – A resident reported a fraud incident in which he was billed nearly $800 for an item shipped to California.
6:11 p.m. – A mugging incident in which people in a vehicle parked at Crocker Farm School had $78 taken from them by a man who reached into the car was reported to police. The suspect was not identified and the alleged victims didn’t provide more details about what happened.

5:50 p.m. – Police are investigating a break-in at Alpine Commons. A Macbook valued at more than $250 was reported stolen. There were no signs of forced entry, according to police.

1:57 p.m. – A Rolling Green Apartments resident reported that $200 worth of gift cards from Wal-Mart were stolen through a phone scam.

2:34 p.m. – A bicycle valued at $1,200 sustained extensive damage after a vehicle ran over it while it was parked outside Hampshire Bicycle Exchange on University Drive, police said. Police are trying to identify the driver.

2:33 a.m. – Police assisted a woman walking on College Street who told officers that she had been removed from a vehicle after getting into an argument with its driver.
1:04 p.m. – An East Hadley Road resident called police for help in getting a tenant removed. The tenant told police he will be leaving the home by the end of 2017.
