I did it. I signed up get the vaccine. I followed the directions and went on line at 11 a.m. as requested. I can see why there are issues. The sign-up required a photo or download of the insurance card. Dismay, I don’t know how to download. I have never done it. Fortunately , one could take a photo.
For those who register over the phone, I assume a photo would not be required. I have friends in other states where it took hours just to connect.
I will still wear my mask, keep my distance and use a lot of hand lotion with all the hand washing.
Thanks to all who made the clinics possible.
Also thanks to Jack Wollensak, the volunteer computer /device guru at the Bangs Center. When I first got my iPad, I scheduled many hours of tutoring with him to learn how to operate the device. I leaned about airplane mode, apps, the free phone, got a flashlight, how to cut and paste. And I was okay going through multiple pages of required information because of his teaching. Luckily, I know my birthday. They want to know the date a lot. But will they send a card?
However, there have been upgrades to the iPad and things pop up and I don’t know what to do. I could really use help again.

Martha Hanner, a member of the League of Women Voters Sustainability and Climate Action Committee, sent me the following email. “The Amherst League of Women voters is urging the Town Council to pass a resolution opposing the Springfield wood-burning power plant and state subsidies for large-scale woody biomass power plants (ref. www.lwvamherst.org) The resolution is on theFeb. 8Council agenda.”
“If the Springfield power plant planned to burn coal, everyone would be protesting loudly, yet wood-burning produces far more particle pollution than coal!”
Full disclosure: I am a member of the League of Women Voters. If anyone has a different opinion, please call or email members of the Town Council before the meeting.

It’s Girl Scout cookie time. I went on the internet and found they are being sold Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at GNC, 334 Russell St., Hadley. You can freeze the cookies. I had a friend who froze boxes. Whenever someone visited, she always had something to offer.
