Like many other parents of graduating seniors from Amherst Regional High School, I am thankful my child has had the opportunity to learn from such devoted, skilled teachers and to grow in an environment of rich cultural diversity.
But I want to issue a special shout-out to the facilities and maintenance employees, who have had our backs since the moment in seventh grade when my daughter suffered a life-altering physical injury and began navigating life in a manual wheelchair. Since that time, the facilities staff has been unwavering in their commitment to making the school building a welcoming place for a mobility-challenged student.
And at this spring’s graduation, when a stage was installed with no ramp, the facilities crew built one in a matter of hours. We will always be in debt to this highly skilled, empathic, no excuses group of school employees who never once let us down.
