Lots of activities in the next few days. For example the annual Sustainability Festival is Saturday on the Town Common from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you have tattered tea towels, stained T-shirts, socks with holes, bring them to the fair. They are collecting textiles as well as pellet bags and other recyclable items. Vendors with all sorts of Earth-friendly items will be there. The free event includes entertainment and demonstrations.
A March for Science will gather at 9 a.m. at Kendrick Park and walk to the fair.
In addition, the Farmers Market is open for the season.

Sunday, April 28 is Open Mosque Day at the Mosque at 451 Russell St. (Route 9.The free tours will be held between 2-5 p.m.

Art week begins April 26 and runs until May 5 with a full schedule of activities including an architectural walk, art swap, poetry, a chalk walk, mural painting and art walls. The full schedule is at the Chamber of Commerce web site and the BID web site.

Nina Scott of Amherst sent me an email about a series of free talks sponsored by Five College Learning in Retirement. The first is “Edith Wharton: A Genius for Gardens” by Anne Schuyler on April 30 at 11 a.m. at Applewood.
The next “House of Mirth: Landscape Archaeology and Historic Reconstruction at The Mount, Home of Edith Wharton” by Tim Binzen on May 14 at 11 a.m. at Applewood. The last is “Edith Wharton: Literature and Architecture” by Richard Guy Wilson on May 29 at 5 p.m. at 5 p.m. at Loomis Village.

The annual University Women bus trip to New York City is May 22. The bus leaves the Campus Plaza Shopping Center at 7 a.m. and has three drop-off points in the city.
