Jim Pistrang is my neighbor. He is the kind of neighbor everyone wants. He makes our neighborhood and the community better.
He has devoted years to community activities such as coaching Ultimate Frisbee for kids in the community and helping with LSSE Community Theater in all that they do, including as stage manager. He is now chairing the Dog Park Committee, working toward getting a good dog park in Amherst. He has given untold hours to making our town government work, both as a Town Meeting member and for the past six years as our Town Moderator. He works hard at being a community leader, and he shares his skills and enthusiasm with us. Those skills are evident in his many activities. He is a good communicator. He knows how to focus on the process and content of an issue, and he knows how to move things forward. He likes to see the results of a process, such as spearheading the committee to acquire electronic voting at Town Meeting.
Jim is focused right now on running for Councilor-at-Large of our new Town Council. His eye is on bringing people together so we can find consensus on issues which have been controversial and often contentious. I believe many of us have grown tired of debating and arguing about the pros and cons of issues concerning our schools, libraries, economic developement, and zoning. Now we need to come together to find a workable consensus on issues like these. And I know Jim — he is dedicated to making that process work for all of us. He is a problem solver and a consensus builder. We need him! Please support and vote for my good neighbor, Jim Pistrang!
