Positive parenting group meets

HADLEY - Berkshire Children and Families, located at 220 Russell St., will hold a positive parenting group to share ideas and thoughts about parenting starting Sept. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. for 10 weeks at 220 Russell St., Hadley. The group is free, and childcare is provided. Call 584-5690, ext. 115.

Sister city tag sale to be held

The La Paz Centro Nicaragua Sister City Committee will hold its annual Tag Sale Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Town Common to benefit educational and health projects in La Paz Centro. Donations are needed. No clothes, shoes, computers or printers can be accepted.

Rotary hosts guest speakers

The Amherst Rotary Club is opening up meetings to the public when speakers of general interest are scheduled. On Sept. 11, Craig Melin, CEO of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, will speak on the state of the hospital and discuss medical insurance issues. On Sept. 25, Rebecca Caplice of the Greenfield Savings Bank will discuss issues surrounding deposit insurance and her perspective as a woman bank president.

The lunch meetings start at noon at the Hickory Ridge Country Club and last until 1:30 p.m. Lunch costs $12. RSVP to Kathy Rice at 549-3660, ext. 251.

Annual Lions BBQ to be held

PELHAM - The Pelham Lions Club will hold its annual chicken barbecue Sept. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Rhodes Building, 351 Amherst Road. The District 33Y Eye Mobile will offer free vision, hearing and blood pressure screening. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children and are available at the door.

Post office workers host fundraiser

The Amherst Post Office employees will hold a fundraiser Sept. 7 at the Cherry Hill Golf Course for letter carrier Donna Hall. Hall, a postal employee for more than 20 years and an Iraq War veteran, was injured in a motorcycle accident in June. After numerous surgeries, she is on the long route of rehabilitation with the outstanding medical expenses that go with it.
