Girls in kindergarten and first grade and their guardians are invited to a free Science of Snow program Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bangs Center, according to my neighbor Dana Carnegie, who is the communications manager for the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts. She wrote that the group will learn about the different types of snowflakes, learn why it snows, make their own snow, and earn their first official Girl Scout patch.

This event is for girls in the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District, who are not currently Girl Scouts. If interested, visit https://bit.ly/snowamherst to respond. The deadline is Jan. 22.

For information on Girl Scouts, email bprevost@gscwm.org or call 413-584-2602 x4027.

Actually, I would like to make snow — sounds like fun.
