Garden report: The marigolds have bloomed. The next crop of radishes, lettuce and green beans have been planted. I eat a tomato a day.

Gallery A3 will hold its eighth juried show, “Undercurrents — Art that Reveals the Underseen,” from Aug. 3  to Sept. 2. The gallery is open Thursday-Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m.

Lefever and Moondance, the ultimate Van Morrison Tribute Band, will perform at the Friday Night Concert Series on Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. on the Town Common. It’s free and sponsored by the Business Improvement District.

Bring blankets or chairs. There are some picnic tables and benches if you forget. Beer, wine, and cider vendors will be there.

The Jones Library has had many programs scheduled during the summer. However, with the building closed because of flooding, those programs are in limbo. The website says information will be provided. Keep checking the site. The branches may be able to provide space for some programs. The Munson Memorial Library has an auditorium and a large room in the basement.

I happened to be out Saturday afternoon when the rain became a deluge. I stopped in a supermarket parking lot until it was over. I can see the need for flash flooding warnings. The puddles from that brief storm were enormous. Of course, the sun came out as soon as the rain stopped.

I went to pay my real estate taxes at Town Hall. What a challenge! The front steps are gone. A sign says you can’t use the crosswalk. There is a trench in front of the building that you can try jumping over. ( I wouldn’t recommend it. I thought about jumping but know my legs are short and the gap too wide.) And the construction underway on Main Street blocks part of the road and makes only one lane passable at time.

The cones across part of the road at the intersection of Spring Street and Boltwood Walk appear to block traffic. However, you can go around them to reach the parking lot in front of Town Hall.

Despite all that, the good news is I saw several friends while waiting in line.
