Reminder: Federal and state income taxes are due Tuesday, April 18. Patriot’s Day is Monday, April 17, which is a holiday in our state. Therefore, we get the extra two days to pay our taxes.

April 17 is Monday and since it is a state, rather than federal, holiday it’s mixed pickles as to what is open and closed. Town offices may be closed but federal facilities could be open.

Garden report: I planted lettuce starts outside. I hope they don’t wilt in the projected 80-degree temperatures. Lettuce is a cool weather crop.

Amy Gates of Amherst sent me an email about a program at the Drake on Sunday, April 16 at 5 p.m.

She wrote, ” The Rasa String Quartet presents Song and Dance, a program centered around the relationship between voice, movement, and music. You will hear works by contemporary composers from North America and East Asia, alongside a traditional masterwork from the long-celebrated European canon.”

It’s time to find a way to get from here to there without being delayed by road, sidewalk, tree and house work. Seeing all the machinery, I wonder if I should buy stock in John Deere and Volvo. Those names are on a lot of machines.
